One of the reasons I became a personal trainer was because of how rewarding it was to build relationships and make personal connections with my clients.
And one thing I hear over and over from those clients is how hard it is to find the time to be consistent with exercise.
I can give someone a perfect exercise plan customized to their unique needs, and if they only use it once every few months, they won’t get the results they’re looking for.
Consistency is the key to getting the most out of exercise, whether you’re looking to improve your health, reach new fitness goals, or just move better for many years to come.
Keep it simple
That’s why I’m excited to share a series of exercises with you that I call “BTN WODs” (also known as ‘Better Than Nothing Workouts of the Day!’). These are quick moves you can do when you don’t have time for a full workout to help you stay consistent and feel better overall.
Each BTN exercise will help with common issues that can arise from long days of commuting and sitting in front of computers – things like poor posture, or hip and back discomfort.
In just five minutes of movement, you can burn some extra calories, get your heart rate up, build consistency, and be more mindful of your body position. And these exercises are simple enough that you can do them in your office, at home while watching tv, or whenever you have a few minutes.

While the exercises I’ll share as part of this series work well for most people, everyone is different and has unique challenges. I always recommend people have an evaluation with a certified personal trainer or physical therapist to determine what is safe and will work best for you.
